Raccoons are very common in our environment, generally causing damage to our landscaping and our homes.

They only need an opening of 4” to gain entrance to a home, however in extreme cases they may tear off shingles or fascia boards to gain entry to an attic.

Most often if you have raccoons getting into your home, it is for shelter, birthing or  nesting.

With raccoons , most of the time exclusion can simply be made to the entry point, rather than to the entire home.  There are multiple factors that would determine the actual recommended exclusion on a case by case basis.

Most raccoon trapping is done with live traps at or near the entry point or where they are gaining access to your home.  NC requires trapped raccoon to be euthanized, or released on the same property which they were caught.  If you choose to have a trapped raccoon released on your own property the amount of exclusion work on your home will be more in depth as there is a high likelihood that the animal will try to re-enter at another time.  Having previously been trapped this raccoon will be trap shy and harder to catch.

Our trapping process is generally a 10-12 day process.  Our traps are outfitted with remote sensors that send us both a text and email upon the sensor being triggered.

Upon the conclusion of trapping the entry point is secured with either galvanized steel or hardware cloth depending on the location.  In some cases you may only need to secure a couple of areas, while in other circumstances major work may be required.
